Exploration Day - Al-Ahsa

1. 9:00 AM - Reception at Meeting Point (Airport/Train/Hotel)
Gathering Point: Al-Koot Park
Description: Welcoming participants and introducing the tour route and program details.
Experience: Meeting the tour guide and getting an overview of the sites to be visited.
Duration: 10 minutes

2. 9:10 - 10:05 AM - Jawatha Mosque
Description: One of the oldest mosques in Islam.
Experience: Visiting the mosque to learn about its history and religious significance.
Story: The second mosque where Friday prayers were held after the Prophet’s Mosque (ﷺ).
Duration: 20 minutes

3. 10:15 - 10:30 AM - Pottery Factory
Location: Traditional pottery workshop
Description: A workshop showcasing handmade pottery using local clay.
Experience: Watching the manufacturing process and purchasing pottery items.
Duration: 15 minutes

4. 10:35 - 10:45 AM - Al-Qarah Mountain
10:50 - 11:30 AM - Heading to Al-Qarah Cave
Description: A unique natural landmark known for its cool caves and massive rocks, offering stunning views of the oasis.

Experience: Exploring the caves and discovering the unique rock formations.
Story: Some caves, such as Abu Hasis Mountain, served as a safe haven for Bedouins from the sun’s heat and as a rest stop before shopping for dates and flour from nearby farms and markets.

Duration: 40-50 minutes
6. 11:45 AM - 1:15 PM - Lunch
Location: One of the traditional or other restaurants
Description: Enjoying a local meal featuring Hasawi rice, known for its high nutritional value and being the most expensive globally, or Hasawi mandi in a traditional ambiance or a barbecue restaurant with rice, meat/chicken, appetizers, and drinks.
Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

7. 1:15 - 4:15 PM - Al-Asfar Lake
Description: A natural lake, the largest water body in the Arabian Gulf, surrounded by sand dunes and wild plants.
Experience: Exploring the stunning nature around the lake and enjoying activities like boat rides.

Story: The lake attracts migratory birds. Its water comes from agricultural runoff and rain, making it fresh and home to fish like tilapia, which was introduced by the Ministry of Agriculture to naturally control mosquito larvae. The lake also hosts turtles, frogs, various birds, foxes, and plants like bamboo, tamarisk, and reed used in making mats.

Activities: 4x4 safari tour around the lake
Hospitality: Saudi hospitality (coffee, tea, dates, water, cold drinks, pastries, and desserts).

8. 4:15 - 5:35 PM - Al-Ahsa Red Bread Bakery
Location: Traditional bakery
Description: Offers red barley bread with distinctive dates
Experience: Watching the bread-making process and tasting the fresh bread.
Duration: 30 minutes

9. 5:35 - 6:15 PM - Al-Qaisariyah Market
Description: A traditional market reflecting Al-Ahsa’s heritage, featuring shops selling traditional products.
Experience: Shopping for local goods and enjoying a session at the traditional coffee shop.
Duration: 40 minutes

10. 6:15 - 6:50 PM - Return to Starting Point & End of Tour
Experience: Distributing souvenirs and taking group photos.

Duration: 30 minutes
